4/13/2009 - The Grand Opening of the Thrift Store last week, was a rousing success, despite the cold and rainy weather outside. It's always warm and friendly inside! Come out and take a look around in the store. We are trying to create an inventory of "gently used" items. We are also in need of donations, so don't hesitate to bring clothes and other household goods as your way of supporting this important aspect of Touch New Jersey.
3/08/09 - Touch New Jersey has been awarded grant for 2009 from Wakefern, Inc., also known as ShopRite Partners in Caring. ShopRite store # 471 in Brooklawn selected us the charity of their choice. The grant will be placed on account at the Food Bank of South Jersey and will go a long way in our continuing effort to feed those in need. Thank you to Brown's ShopRite!
2/16/09 - Lots of items are coming in for the"soon to be" thrift store", which is due to open sometime next month. Various display racks and the space itself is being organized and spruced up. It won't be long until the opening day!
1/29/09 - Once again, "Chef Von" Kaukeano, along with his helpers, made homemade chicken noodle soup for everyone at the evening session of the Pantry. Many commented that it was the best soup they have ever tasted of its' kind! It surely helped to warm up everyone on a cold night. Thanks again to our "Chef". Emril, take some lessons from the best!
1/25/09 - The rock concert fundraiser for Touch New Jersey, sponsored by the law firm of Earp Cohn of Cherry Hill, was a awesome time! The opening band, Pleading the 5th, played classic rock and original material, getting the standing room only crowd, fired up for the headliners, Mother Zeta. With classic rock music from various genres, they played hard for two hours to a totally receptive crowd. Thanks to all of the fantastic musicians. You made the night a wonderfully rocking time, and Touch New Jersey received foodstuffs and donations way beyond any expectations. A special thank you goes out to Connie Montana who worked diligently behind the scenes to make this event possible.
1/23/09 - "Chef Von" Kaukeano and his helpers created a scrumptious roast beef sandwich dinner on the evening of January 22. It was enjoyed by all. Thanks to Von and his crew!
Thanks also go out to all of our volunteers who work so hard to make the Pantry a success, no matter what your job is in keeping this program going. Thank you all for hanging in there when we had no heat!!
